The Stock Butler as of 2016, is giving to trader 4 techniques to trade.

  1. Channel Breakout 55-20 or 55-55
  2. Trend Analysis
  3. Bandwidth
  4. BoingBoing

You will find below some articles from our blog to read. Here are some note from a previous SSS class and here from the Summit and here is information on aggressive vs conservative pyramiding. Finally, you can learn about the seasonality principle.

Diversifying

If you get multiple entry signal on a specific instrument you can decide to diversify through time and technique as Courtney is saying. So you can split your current risk between multiple technique. For example, if you currently have 1% risk and that you get 2 entry signal on the 4 technique, you will place both trade independently with only 0.5% risk on each technique so you don't over trade your account. You will manage these to trade respectively to their technique. Don't mix up entry and signal on these.

Time Frame

Each technique have it owns time frame of action. Channel Breakout look at a longer time frame than TA which is about the same as Bandwidth and where Boing Boing is the shortest time frame.

Exit Point (Take Profit)

Except for some indicator or technique like Bishop, Boing Boing, Inside Day, .... The take profit of the technique is the protective stop of the technique. I have heard over time that some traders were going out after x% of profit in y days but this will go against getting the big move mind set that Courtney teach.

1. Channel Breakout (CB)

We have a starting article here. You can have a look here at the last update (as of 2015) of the rule on Channel Breakout.

The Channel Breakout technique is there to catch the big move in the market. That is why Courtney change his rules in 2015. The Channel Breakout 55-55 is for longer trade and we will be less "stop out" than with the Channel Breakout 55-20.

For this technique there is not a specific exit strategy except the protective stop that you will move up from time to time. It is a strategy that required less monitoring of the trade.

2. Trend Analysis (TA)

We have a starting article here that give the basic.

The Trend Analysis technique is base on significant swing high and swing low. This technique will give you bigger position than Channel Breakout because the stop will generally be closer than CB. You will also move your stop to lock in profit more often.

The exit point of this technique will be your protective stop and a bishop signal.

3. Bandwidth

We have a starting article here on Bandwidth.

The Bandwidth technique have a similar time frame than Trend Analysis. This is not (in opposition to TA and CB) a breakout technique. You enter at marker in trade when all the condition are satisfied. With this technique you will change your stop almost every day to lock in profit.

4. Boing Boing

We have here a quick explanation of BoingBoing here. An important note about Boing Boing is that it is better to take the trade in direction of the main trend of the market. Actually, every technique work better in the direction of the trend.

As you may know, I'm the maker of The Stock Butler but not of the technique. Therefore, for pure trading advice and to verify this information you can contact Courtney's team here
