To import positions that you previously owned, The Stock Butler does not currently have an import mechanism. The following document will give you the “how to”:

Here are the steps:

  1. Search for the stock in the “Get Quotes” box at the top of the site
  2. Use the “Place an order” link to create a new position

  3. Fill the Entry Technique, Entry price, Protective stop and Quantity with the current information that you have. Don’t forget to check “This action has already been executed at my brokerage house”. This will skip the “Order ticket(s) – waiting to be placed” tab and the order will go directly to the “In order” tab.

  4. Click “Save”
  5. At this point, you have a position in order. You now have to inform The Stock Butler that your order is “In trade”. Normally, The Stock Butler will tell you when your order got filled in the Portfolio in the“Needing your attention” tab. As we are entering the position manually, we will have to tell The Stock Butler about it.
  6. In the “In Order” tab of the “Portfolio” use the edit position icon  to edit your position.

  7. Now you have to change the “Portfolio Status” from “In Order” to “In Trade” and also define the buy date. The “Buy Price” and “Protective Stop” should be the same as previously entered.

  8. Click “Save”
  9. Now your position is entered in The Stock Butler. From now on, you will be able to see and receive the analysis for this position. The first analysis from The Stock Butler will be made tomorrow.
